Safety Tips

AllWorldChat management wishes that all members use AllWorldChat in a safe way. The advice below is intended to help keep you safe and help you use AllWorldChat services wisely.

As with the real world, precautions are needed to keep yourself safe when interacting with people who are not well known to you.

Take common sense precautions.

Remember that what you post is in a public forum, and so you should keep in mind that information that you disclose could potentially be available for anyone to see.

Be truthful in your communications (with out revealing identifying information) and expect the same from others.

If you have unwanted messages (for example abuse or harassment) we recommend you use the blocking feature to stop contact. If you suspect contact after blocking (on a double profile for instance) please contact AllWorldChat management and we will resolve.

If meeting in person, you should by then, already have a reasonable knowledge of the person you are meeting from your online, and perhaps phone communication (it is recommended that you speak on the phone for a time before meeting). Note: you "should" have a reasonable knowledge – as with the real world, do not assume that all that is told is always the truth and that people are who they say they are.

You should always exercise caution when dealing with people that are unknown, and be aware that fraudsters often operate through the internet with various scams to deceive and also defraud people of their money.

Be very cautious about giving your personal details such as phone number and ISP email, address, place of work etc. If considering meeting someone IRL (in real life), take your time and get an online impression first through our internal message systems, including email and message boards.

If you decide to meet a contact, be sure to tell a friend or family member where you are going and when you are expected back. It is also a good idea to contact someone during your meeting (or have them phone you for instance) and let them know all is well (or not). Bringing a friend along could add to making things safer and more comfortable also.

A public place like a restaurant or café may also be safer and more comfortable if you are meeting an internet contact.

If meeting anyone you have met online, you should already have learnt reasonable information about who you are meeting, and if possible, confirmed this information.

Please use common sense and be careful, and enjoy your experience on AllWorldChat.
